What is Disc Golf?

     Does your friends and family keeping talking about disc golf? Do you keep seeing people playing it at the local park? Have you seen awesome videos of discs flying? How ever you found out I'm glad you made it here. I hope after reading this you will have all the basic knowledge you need to get started or help you advance your disc golf journey to the next level.

Basic Rules:

  • Tee Off: Each hole starts from a designated tee pad. Players throw their discs toward the target basket.
  • Throwing Order: Players take turns throwing from the spot where their disc landed. The player with the farthest from the basket throws first.
  • Fairway Play: As players progress down the fairway, they aim to reach the basket in as few throws as possible, navigating trees and other obstacles.
  • Scoring: The number of throws it takes to land the disc in the basket determines a player's score for that hole. Lower scores are better.
  • Completion: Once all players complete the hole, they move to the next tee pad and repeat the process until they finish the entire course.

How to Start Playing Disc Golf?
Essential Equipment
We highly recommend new players starting out there disc golf journey to buy 
a disc golf starter set. Most of these sets are relatively cheap and include all the discs you need to get started. There is a ton of information out there all about different discs and what they do, and it can be a bit overwhelming when starting out. We believe its best to get a starter set, learn some basics on how to throw, and practice playing to how your discs fly. Learning Basic Throws

  • Backhand Throw: Hold the disc with your dominant hand, step forward, and release the disc by extending your arm across your body.

  • Forehand (or Sidearm) Throw: Hold the disc with your palm facing upwards and your thumb on top. Snap your wrist while releasing the disc forward.

  • Putting: Stand perpendicular to the basket, aim, and putt by using a controlled throw with your putter.

    Non-Throwing Technique

    • Grip: Ensure a firm but not overly tight grip on the disc.

    • Stance: Adopt a comfortable, balanced stance with your feet shoulder-width apart.
    • Follow-Through: Maintain your motion after releasing the disc for accuracy and power.

    Understanding Course Etiquette

    • Courtesy: Allow faster groups to play through and maintain a steady pace.
